Glassia or Prolastin (Alpha-1 Proteinase Inhibitor) is a prescription medication used to treat adults with emphysema caused by severe Alpha-1 Antitrypsin (AAT) deficiency. This genetic condition leads to low levels of AAT. AAT is a protein that protects the lungs from damage, and individuals with low levels of this protein. Without enough AAT, individuals are at a higher risk for developing chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and other lung disorders.
