Leqvio (inclisiran) is a prescription, subcutaneous injection, used to lower low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol, also known as “bad” cholesterol. It is approved for adults with primary hyperlipidemia, including those with heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia (a genetic condition causing high cholesterol). Leqvio works by inhibiting the production of PCSK9, a protein that reduces the liver’s ability to remove LDL cholesterol from the bloodstream.
