To provide the highest quality of ethical care and compassion for our patients while they receive medical and professional health services that promote feelings of safety, dignity, and respect.
POLICY
Infusion Specialists, an affiliate of Rocky Mountain Medical LLC, is dedicated to supporting and informing each patient of their rights and responsibilities. These rights are extended to all patients regardless of age, gender, race, creed, nationality, ethnic background, religion, economic or cultural background, or payment source. Patients are informed of their rights when receiving outpatient services and treatment. These rights may be exercised on the patient’s behalf by a parent or other authorized individual if the patient is a minor, incapable of decision-making, or legally incompetent. Infusion Specialists emphasizes the importance of effective communication in respecting patient rights, and it is our policy to provide patients with all relevant information regarding their care and services in a manner they can understand. Infusion Specialists respects all our patients’ cultural and personal values, beliefs, and preferences.
DEFINITIONS: Our patients are entitled to:
- Medical care and services without discrimination based on race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, nationality, age, payment source, disability, marital status, or diagnosis.
- Considerate and respectful care that acknowledges their personal values and beliefs, and the right to express those values and beliefs provided they do not harm others or interfere with medical therapy.
- Knowing the name and professional status of the physician responsible for their care, as well as the identities of other healthcare providers involved in their care.
- Being informed about their responsibilities related to their care, treatment, and services.
- Receiving information in a manner appropriate to the patient’s age, language, and ability to understand. This information should be relevant, current, and easily understood regarding diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis.
- Receiving communication that meets their needs if they have vision, speech, hearing, or cognitive impairments, including interpretation and translation services if necessary.
- Participating in decisions about their care, treatment, and services, including having their own physician promptly notified of any changes in condition or treatment.
- Refusing care, treatment, or services and having this decision respected.
- Giving or withholding informed consent for the production or use of recordings, films, or other images of the patient for purposes other than their care.
- Being informed of the risks, benefits, alternatives, and procedures if experimental treatment or research is proposed, with the right to refuse participation without limiting their access to care and services.
- Having their rights respected during research, investigation, and clinical trials.
- Formulating advance directives and having the medical staff honor these directives.
- Being free from neglect, exploitation, coercion, manipulation, misappropriation, seclusion, restraint, retaliation, and verbal, mental, physical, and sexual abuse.
- Filing a complaint and expecting a prompt referral to appropriate administrative personnel for resolution. Patients also have the right to file a complaint with state and federal advocacy and licensing groups, as well as accreditation agencies.
- Confidentiality regarding their care, including the right to receive care in privacy, and the confidentiality of clinical records.
- Accessing information contained in their records within a reasonable timeframe.
- Being informed of both unexpected and expected outcomes resulting from the care provided.
- Receiving a referral to another healthcare institution if the provider is not authorized or unable to provide the necessary services.
- Being informed of any professional and/or business relationships that may exist between individuals, other organizations or healthcare services, or educational institutions involved in their care.
- Requesting and receiving a detailed explanation of their medical bill and receiving information and counseling on the availability of financial resources for healthcare.
- Accessing, requesting an amendment to, and obtaining information on all disclosures of health information made by the organization.
